Birdseye Wood Choices
A variety of beautiful woods available for you to choose from.

We have a variety of beautiful woods available for you to choose from. The price for each harp includes your choice of our standard woods, which may vary but usually includes cherry, walnut, and African sapele (suh- PAY-lay). For an additional charge you can choose other woods from around the world, such as figured cherry, kauri, and other exotics. The woods may be combined to create a harp that is more uniquely yours. We are happy to talk with you about the effect of the various woods on the tone of your harp.

Note: All Dreamweaver models are made from Baltic Birch, and we'll stain them to your color preference!

Soundboard Choices
The wood that you see on the soundboard is a veneer - it is very thin, and is there for visual effect only - it does not effect the tone. Below are some of the wood veneers that we offer for use on soundboards. You can also have the soundboard of your harp match the wood of the body of your harp, for a unified, dramatic effect.

Purfling (Edge Binding) Choices
The delicately curved edge of the Heartland soundboard is a visual and tactile delight, and you can enhance it by your choice of a contrasting wood strip. This is a regular part of the Heartland design (no extra charge). We'll often match the purfling to an element in the artwork, creating a unifying look.

Pinstripe purfling
(the same wood as your harp body, with a thin strip of maple to accent it)

Exotic Woods
We have several exotic woods that are available to enhance the appearance or tone of your harp.

Ancient Kauri wood
One of our most popular exotics is ancient kauri wood. This wood is 45,000 years old - yes, 45,000! After being sunk in a bog in New Zealand, the wood is now being harvested and brought to the US. The grain of this wood is almost invisible - it is different structurally from anything growing today, and has a golden, almost holographic glow. The tone is also quite striking, mellow and incredibly resonant. Ancient Kauri comes in three 'grades' - regular, figured, and white bait.

Read more about Kauri or contact us for pricing.

Figured Cherry
The flowing appearance of figured cherry makes it a favorite of ours. The tone is similar to regular cherry, but the look is just spectacular!

Special Features

Racing Stripes
We can add wood accents to enhance the appearance of your harp. One of the most beautiful of these enhancements is the 'Racing Stripe' neck and pillar. Putting one or two strips of contrasting wood in the middle of the neck and pillar create a detail that delights the eye and invites the touch.
Additional cost: $700
